    The restaurant meeting would never have happened. Sollozzo would never have agreed to meet with Michael - a known murderer - just days after trying to kill Vito.

    I love that Sollozzo’s perfect Italian was used as an intimidation act towards Michael because Sollozzo thought that Michael was nothing more than an American brat who was only sent there as a mediator

    The way the singer pronounced jivin doesn't like it so over the yrs people have heard what THEY think it is & it stuck. In Sister Sledge's song Greatest Dancer there is a part where she says "oh what wow he's the greatest dancer. To me i thought she said "i wonder why..." because it sounds right to me. I say it my way because i like it.✊🏾☺️

    One thing I always wondered about is what happened to Sollozzo's driver who took them all to the restaurant? Wouldn't he have been instructed to wait for them outside to pick them up? Where was he? If he was close by wouldn't he have heard the shots and saw Michael running out?

    • @MarkHarrison733
      @MarkHarrison733 4 дня назад

      Lou would have shot Michael when he tried to leave the restaurant alone. Sollozzo would have had two of his men inside the restaurant.

    I think it was a huge mistake not to show English captions for this scene in the original movie. This dialogue between Sollozo and Michael is germane to the rest of the movie, but yet wasn't translated for the viewing audience for some strange reason. Thanks for translating!

    • @user-ze2ll1lp7u
      @user-ze2ll1lp7u 25 дней назад

      It was definitely good to show English captions, maybe it was intentional so we see their faces and jestures instead getting distracted by reading the subtitles. But the dialogue was really important because as I understood from the book Michael still had a little bit of hesitation for the killing and when he asked Solocco to guarantee his father's life he knew then and there that they wouldn't stop until his father's dead. And that erased his doubts about killing Solocco and the captain. But that part of their conversation was in English nonetheless so the most important thing was translated, the other things said weren't that essential to the story even without understanding exactly what is said.

    Michael realized that none of what he was hearing added up. Solozzo has all these people running around doing his bidding, but he acts like he's just a soldier? A guy is just over from Sicily, and he's giving orders to a boss like Tatallia? No boss would allow that, unless he wasn't really in charge. He's sent in to negotiate for the other families, but he can't commit to anything? For that matter, why IS Solozzo there? What is he hoping to gain? Michael is there to hear the peace offer, but Solozzo doesn't actually offer anything other than a truce, which they didn't need a meeting for. I think the offer wasn't sincere, it was just an attempt to find out where the Corleone family was at that point mentally.

    Sure, the book was very good, read it again just last week, but this was one of those instances where the movie was better...every single character right down to Paulie, Jack Woltz and Moe Greene, was perfect.
